World Number 1.

The Wave Muscat climbed to the top of the World Match Racing rankings yesterday for the first time in their career.

It has been a long time coming, with the team rapidly climbing to 10th in their first European season after a number of unexpected wins, and ever since then being top contenders for the Match Racing World Championships.

This year, The Wave Muscat is in as strong a position as ever, with only 6 points separating them from the leaders, two time World Champions Ian Williams and his Team GAC.

With the Monsoon Cup kicking off yesterday, there are only three more days until we find out if The Wave Muscat will reach their goal of winning the World Match Racing Tour, and topping off their World number one ranking with the World Championship crown.

The official ISAF website says:

(Torvar) Mirsky has timed his run in for the World Match Racing Tour title perfectly and with the Monsoon Cup to go the Australian is just six points behind Tour leader Ian Williams (GBR) and Francesco Bruni (ITA). All three occupy the top spots in the Open Match Race Rankings with Williams moving from #3 to #2 and Bruni dropping from World #1 to #3.
