Kinley has been sailing since he was 13 in a variety of keelboat and dinghy classes. He started Match Racing at 16, and won his first youth event that year in Wellington, New Zealand. Since then he has dedicated a lot of his time to sailing, both match and fleet racing.
He joined the Mirsky Racing Team in 2007 and has been involved in the campaign throughout the 2007/2008 season. “It’s a great team to be a part of. Not only because we have been successful but also because everyone on the team has a lot of respect for one another.” Alongside the sailing aspect of the team, Kinley is in charge of the team’s press, communicating with a number of websites and magazines worldwide on a daily basis.
“I have always dreamt of being involved with an America’s Cup or Volvo Ocean Race campaign. I know there is a long way to go before I reach the level of those guys but I feel like I am heading in the right direction with the right team for the job.”
